Summer Theatre Academy 2014
The Summer Theatre Academy runs daily from 9:00am to 3:45pm from Monday July 7th, 2014 through Friday July 18th, 2014. The cost per student is $450, with $150 due with registration. Bring a brown bag lunch. Snacks provided
Group 1 - Beginners , Grades 3-5 Reach Up and Touch the Sky
A program of ideas, imaginings, discoveries, culminating in a performance of the student's own devising.
Group 2 - Apprentices, Grades 5-8 The Revenge of The Space Pandas or Blinky Ruddich and the Two Speed Clock
A comedy by David Mamet...A crazy adventure by zany characters who create a hilarious, time warp play.
Group 3 - Journey Folk, Grades 6-9 A Midsummer Night's Dream
Another adventure, both magical and hilarious, which changes the lives of the characters involved in the action.
Group 4 - Crafters, Grades 9 and Up Shakespeare is not Dead
An investigation into how to breathe life back into Shakespeare's work based on a production of Twelfth Night...to be performed at night on July 19th. Students will learn the professional skills that bring back life into a language that is often considered dead. They will discover how to interpret Shakespeare's ideas, how to convey dramatic meaning and practice comedy techniques. They will study how to make the plays accessible to modern audiences An unusual and fun course...useful for actors, Language Arts studies, discovery, or just for pure enjoyment. The students in this group, together with their director,Terri Park, will decide the final presentational style of the production
